Welcome to Knutsford Academy Sixth Form and Cheshire Studio School.
Our main priority is for every student to achieve their full potential, regardless of their background or ability.
I am immensely proud of our Sixth Form. We have extraordinary students and a dedicated and talented group of staff. Our expectations are high, we insist on exemplary conduct and encourage all students to do their very best in all they do, including being involved in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities.
Over the last three years our Sixth Form has had a 100% pass rate at A Level, with 40% of grades at A or A*. This sees us as one of the top performing Sixth Forms in the country. Cheshire Studio School also boasts a similar record with a 100% pass rate at Level 3. We have an enviable
track record in preparing our young people for their next steps in higher education and the world of work, strengthened even further with our Studio School, which has a strong vocational focus.
Mrs Karen Key, Headteacher
Providing personalised support at every step of the journey is crucial to our Sixth Form.
Because our average class sizes are smaller, teaching and learning is tailored to each student’s needs. We are a strong community, where students thrive socially as well as academically preparing for whatever the next step may be. At the same time as creating a warm, welcoming culture in which students feel supported, we respect their desire to be treated as young adults, and encourage independence, expression and choice.
Students who choose our Cheshire Studio School (CSS) route will find it offers a wide range of Level 3 qualifications, including our highly successful Football Academy; a unique programme that combines a passion for football with academic progression. A key difference within CSS is the extra focus placed on vocational support for students, to ensure they are equipped with employability skills ready for
apprenticeships and the world of work.

Matthew Smith (Head Student 2024 - 2025)
I am one of the Head students at our 6th form and I'm here to tell you a little bit about why I chose Knutsford for my sixth form studies. I have been a student at this school since year 7, this has allowed me to form great relationships with my teachers. I find this has been effective for my learning at A-level, as we are not just their students allowing for more fluid conversations and less anxiety when asking for help. Another reason I chose Knutsford is because of the smaller class sizes, allowing more 1 to 1 time with teachers and more structured class discussions helping to improve my understanding of topics. A-levels are challenging, and the 2 years fly by, Knutsford academy has made my learning memorable and enjoyable, which is a key feature when it comes to recalling information for your exams, I am going on to study Dentistry at University.
Emma Keys (Deputy Head Student 2024 - 2025)
Unlike Matthew I joined the school in year 12 from another school. The change of school felt natural, and making friends was easy. Here you will get access to smaller class sizes and teachers who are willing to go the extra mile in ensuring you are supported with all aspects of your work. The teachers treat you more as adults, rather than just a student they teach, respect is mutual. I am looking at both University and Degree Apprenticeships as options for after my studies.
Isy Copping (Head Student 2024 - 2025)
I transferred here at the very end of year 9 and so like Matthew attended the academy before starting sixth form. I already knew a lot of the teachers here and liked having a more structured timetable and form sessions which we come in every morning for which makes me do work when I have no lesson in which I would otherwise be sleeping. The new study area was also a positive factor for me along with all the support the sixth form team offers when making the leap into sixth form.
