PE A Level is the study of both a depth and breadth of knowledge, understanding and skills relating to scientific, socio-cultural and practical aspects of physical education, providing dynamic theoretical and practical skills for further education or work.

A-level PE We study the AQA specification.  

Anatomy & Physiology, Biomechanics, Skill Acquisition, Sports Psychology and Sport & Society 

Assessment

A-level PE This qualification is assessed in 3 components; 

  • Paper 1 - Factors affecting participation in  sport 

Paper 2 - Factors affecting optimal performance in  sport 

  • Practical performance in 1 activity 

  • Written coursework based on personal performance 

Enrichment

A range of recreational and representative opportunities in; football, rugby, netball, basketball, badminton, cricket, athletics, rounders, trampolining and lacrosse. 

Careers

Physical Education courses can lead to Higher Education opportunities, for example to study Sports Development and Management, Sports Business Management, Sports Science. It can lead to apprenticeships and training or employment in the sports sector. These qualifications will also help you to develop learning and skills that can be used in other life and work situations, such as completing research, working with others, planning training programmes, evaluating and making recommendations to help improve performance, creating and delivering presentations, writing reports, leadership skills and healthy living and lifestyle skills.

  • Written exam – Investigating Business in Sport 

  • 6 units requiring written assignments / practical performances
